Abstract.
The diastasis function is a powerful tool introduced by E. Calabi to study the existence of holomorphic and isometric immersions of Kaehler manifolds into complex space forms. The criterion Calabi provides to determine whether or not a Kaehler manifold admits such an immersion is theoretically impeccable but difficult to be applied and many questions are still open. The aim of this talk is to introduce the diastasis function and to give an overview of the open problems related.
