Abstract.
We describe Alexandrov's moving plane reflection method, which allows to classify embedded constant mean-curvature surfaces in Euclidean space. We also present applications, by Gidas, Ni and Nirenberg, to the symmetry of solutions to elliptic PDEs in symmetric Euclidean domains.
