Abstract.
I will talk about combinatorial problems related to 2- and 3-dimensional partitions and what they have to do with the geometry of the Hilbert schemes of points in 2 and 3 dimensions. It is very interesting to see how combinatorics and geometry enrich each other along their intersection in this very classical topic.
