SISSA Mathematical Glimpses
Abstract.
The tensor product of d finite dimensional vector spaces Vi is a natural object for many engineering applications. At the same time it has a rich geometry, generalizing the matrix spaces (d=2) to multidimensional matrices (any d). We will review the many differences between matrices and tensors, with emphasis on the concept of rank, and we will expose a few problems of current research.
