The Institute of Mathematics at the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences seeks applications for a

Professorship (W2) in
“Mathematics: Arithmetic/Algebraic Geometry and Computer Algebra”

commencing as soon as possible.

The Institute of Mathematics is looking for an internationally recognized excellent researcher whose work focuses on a current area in arithmetic or algebraic geometry. The existing research groups in algebra and number theory should be complemented by the successful candidate’s expertise in computer algebra or cryptology and strengthened by her or his evident cooperation potential. Further links to existing research groups of the institute and the university are desirable. Experience in grant acquisition by the applicant is expected. The successful applicant is able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses offered by the institute as well as some courses in other departments in both German and English. In addition, participation in academic self-government is expected.

As the Universities of Bremen and Oldenburg are bound by a cooperation agreement, active participation in the cooperation is expected.

Preconditions for employment are specified in § 25 NHG.
