Ph.D. positions in Frankfurt and Darmstadt The LOEWE research unit Uniformized structures in arithmetic and geometry, housed at the Departments of Mathematics of TU Darmstadt and GU Frankfurt, welcomes applications for the following positions, with the starting date of January 1st, 2018 or later.

8 positions for Ph.D. students (salary scale E13 TV-TU) for three years with an option for extension

The positions are part of the new LOEWE research unit, led by professors Jan Bruinier, Alex Küronya, Martin Möller, Anna von Pippich, Nils Scheithauer, Jakob Stix, Torsten Wedhorn and Annette Werner. Research activities focus on the projects Orthogonal Shimura varieties, Kudla conjecture, Borcherds products, Vertex algebras, Anabelian section conjecture, and Tropical and enumerative geometry of moduli spaces.

Candidates for the Ph.D. student positions must have completed a degree (Diploma or Master's) in mathematics or a related subject, and have background related to at least one of the research projects of the LOEWE unit. The students will have the opportunity to work towards a Ph.D. degree.

The candidates are expected to focus on research projects within the scope of the LOEWE research unit. The candidates should indicate their research interests and their preferred scientific advisor in the application. The successful candidates will have a position at the university of their scientific advisor.
