The School of Natural and Computing Science at the University of Aberdeen is planning to make full-time appointments in Mathematics at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. We invite applications from individuals in all areas of Pure Mathematics. Preference may be given to mathematicians working in areas matching or complementing the research activities of the Institute of Mathematics. Candidates must have a PhD or an equivalent in Pure Mathematics and must demonstrate clear ability for leading research in their field evidenced by a strong research and publications track record that is commensurate with their career stage. Appointees will have plans for future research, excellent communication skills and the desire and ability to provide students with the best possible experience. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute fully to the research and teaching activities of the Institute, and may be required to take on certain administrative duties.
The starting date of the position is 1 September 2018 or an earlier mutually agreed date. Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 or Grade 8 salary scale with placement determined according to qualifcations and experience.
Lecturer salary range: £37,012 - £44,166 per annum Senior Lecturer salary range: £50,618 - £56,950 per annum.
The position is normally subject to a probation period of three years.

The successful applicant will work within the University of Aberdeen Institute of Mathematics. The institute is a research intensive centre of excellence. Our research interests include pure and applied Algebraic topology, Geometry, Representation Theory and Mathematical Physics. The Institute is accommodated in a modern building that hosts the members of the Institute, as well as postgraduate students and research visitors from all over the world. The building contains modern lecture facilities and plenty of space for meetings and discussions.
