The Faculty of Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science at the Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität (JGU) in Mainz invites applicants for a

Full Professorship (W3) of Pure Mathematics (Chair)

commencing on April 1, 2018.

The applicant is expected to be an internationally highly visible researcher in the field of algebraic Geometry. Cooperation with other researchers of the DFG-fundend collaborative research center SFB/TRR45 "Periods, moduli, and the arithmetic of algebraic varieties" is encouraged. Successful candidates will be expected to initiate and participate in a follow-up program for the collaborative research center SFB/TRR45 which ends in 2019. Participation in the usual teaching duties of the Institute of Mathematics is expected. An active role in the international Master program in algebraic Geometry which is presently being established is also desirable.

Prerequisites are a university degree, a doctoral or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements, and a productive and promising research program.
