Deadline: 31 oct 2016
In order to strengthen research in pure mathematics in Norway, three very attractive tenure-track positions (with extraordinary high personal funding for PhDs and postdocs and little or no teaching for six years) are to be filled. There is no preference for any given field, and the level of excellence is expected to be significantly higher than for usual hirings..
The process is on a fast-track. Eventually there may not be an open and official advertisement for candidates to apply to. In order to secure the very best candidates we are very interested in hearing about extraordinarily strong candidates, for instance fairly recent and brilliant PhD’s who have not yet shown up on our radar.
The plan is that the faculty at each of the universities at Bergen, Oslo and Trondheim are to submit suggestions for a few candidates and an international committee is going to do the selection process for all three lists simultaneously. The list of candidates is to have a significant number of female applicants.
The money is partially from outside sources, so we do not have full control of the process, some things are yet uncertain and there may be changes as we go along.
If you know of excellent candidates, please contact one of us (or any faculty member at the participating universities) informally as soon as possible.
