I would like to advertise a tenure-track lecturer position at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Universitat de Barcelona. Although the position is advertised for Algebra, the research profile includes logic, algebra, geometry and topology.
The deadline is tight: 26 October 2026 at 14:00 Barcelona time. All the information is in Catalan, but hopefully technology will help, and in any case, you can contact me or any of the Geometry and Topology members and we will be happy to answer your questions.
Application: https://seu.ub.edu/ofertaPublicaCategoriaPublic/listPublicacionsAmbCategoria?categoria.id=977568 Geometry & Topology research Group at UB: https://web.ub.edu/en/web/geometria-topologia/
About language requirements: the call includes some paragraphs on language requirements that are difficult to process, but the summary is: if you don't speak Catalan nor Spanish, in the application form you will be able to select the option that you don't have any accreditation. In this case, you should include a short letter stating that you will be willing to learn the language and get the accreditation within the period established by the university (usually 2 years since beginning of contract).
About tenure-track: the position is advertised as "temporary" because it is not legal to open official tenure-track positions in Spain, but the UB has the commitment to open a tenured position with the profile of the candidate before the 5 year period of contract, under the condition that the department issues a positive evaluation (which you should get if you do your job correctly). So effectively, it works as a tenure-track with a safe outcome.
In case of applying, I recommend to start the application process as soon as possible, as the first step requires the creation of some user and a validation from the university that can delay the process.
