The University of Duisburg-Essen is inviting applications for a 3-year postdoc position (100% TV-L E13) in Algebraic Geometry / Complex Geometry. The successful candidate will become part of the Essen Seminar for Algebraic Geometry and Arithmetic (ESAGA) and of the DFG-Research Training Group "Symmetries and classifying spaces: analytic, arithmetic and derived".

Candidates should have research interests at the intersection of Algebraic Geometry and Complex Geometry, e.g., classical Hodge theory and period domains, K3-surfaces and holomorphic-symplektic varieties, Nonabelian Hodge theory and Higgs bundles, uniformisation problems, Shimura varieties, hyperbolicity and its connections to arithmetic questions, classification theory/structure theory/moduli theory of projective varieties and compact Kähler manifolds, algebraic/analytic stacks and good moduli spaces, algebraic/analytic deformation theory, algebraic/analytic group actions and their quotient spaces, geometric aspects of the representation theory of Lie groups, topological and analytic invariants of singular varieties (like L2-cohomology, intersection homology, differential forms).

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the research activities (seminars, summer schools, ...) of the Research Training Group. There is no teaching requirement.

The application deadline is January 17th, 2020. The earliest starting date for the position is April 1st, 2020.
