The advert fails to mention that the applicants should arrange for at least 2 recommendation letters to be sent to me directly at yanki.lekili(AT)kcl.ac.uk but I am fed up with chasing the admin about this. So, please submit 2 recommendation letters if you want to be considered seriously for this position.

There is no prospect for extending the funding beyond a year which is admittedly quite short. Hopefully, this could serve as a relaxed bumper year in London if you are just graduating with a PhD and have other postdoc offers lined up or are at a late stage of your postdoctoral studies and planning to apply for longer term positions during next year.
