Meeting in Lisbon, 4-7 Feb 2015, on Applications of Topology - 1st announcement
Dear colleague, We invite you to attend a meeting that we are organizing in Lisbon, 4th-7th February 2015, on the topic of "Applications of Topology". http://cmup.fc.up.pt/cmup/omgtp/2015.
This is the XXIst edition of the series Oporto Meetings on Geometry, Topology and Physics. http://www.math.ist.utl.pt/~jmourao/om.
As in previous years the meeting is based around minicourses given by four main speakers, supplemented by invited and contributed talks. Our main speakers for this edition are:
Dmitry Feichtner-Kozlov (Bremen): Combinatorial Algebraic Topology and
applications to Distributed Computing
Michael Farber (Queen Mary, London): Topological Robotics
Piotr Sulkowski (Warsaw): Random matrices, topological recursion, and
applications of topology to biomolecules
Ulrich Bauer (IST Austria): Topological Data Analysis
The talks are at the advanced graduate or postdoctoral level, and should be of interest to all researchers wishing to learn about recent developments in the applications of topology, including applications in robotics and theoretical computing.
Some funding is available through the European Science Foundation research network, Applied and Computational Algebraic Topology, and possibly some local sources. There is no registration fee.
