Dear all,

We are happy to announce the 27th edition of GAeL which will take place in Bucharest University (Romania) from Monday 17th until Friday 21st of June 2019.

"Géométrie Algébrique en Liberté" is a conference organized by and for researchers in Algebraic Geometry at the beginning of their scientific career. The conference gives PhD students and post-docs the opportunity to lecture, often for the first time, in front of an international audience. In addition, selected international experts deliver mini-courses on topics at the cutting-edge of important new developments in Algebraic Geometry.

The senior speakers will be:

- Serge Cantat (Univeristé de Rennes 1)
The geometric Bogomolov conjecture

- Cinzia Casagrande (Università degli Studi di Torino)
Fano manifolds and birational geometry

- Eyal Markman (University of Massachusetts Amherst)
The monodromy of projective holomorphic symplectic varieties and its significance.

Accommodation for supported participants will be provided from the 16th June to at most the 22nd June 2019. Without any promise, you can apply for the reimbursements of your travel costs if you are not supported by your university.

More information on the conference is available on the website:

The deadline for applying to participate with funding is Friday 15th March 2019. The deadline for applying to participate without funding is Friday 24th May 2019.

If you would like to get involved with planning a future GAeL conference (e.g. 2020 edition), and/or you have ideas for good locations or funding sources for future conferences, please email one of the organisers.
