Dear all,
Together with Hugues (Auvray), we organize a one-day meeting, Geometry : exchanges and perspectives, on February 16th at the Institut Henri Poincaré (Amphi Darboux).
We will have two expository talks of 1h30:
Lorenzo Foscolo (Heriot Watt University, Edimbourg) : Degenerations of special holonomy metrics,
Paul Laurain (Paris 7) : The isoperimetric problem in general relativity,
and a one-hour research talk :
Felix Schulze (University College London) : Optimal isoperimetric inequalities for surfaces in any codimension in Cartan-Hadamard manifolds.
The goal of the two expository talks is to present in a didactic way a research subject, its tools and basic techniques, for a large public of geometers. A large time will be devoted to questions and discussions. We encourage you to spread this announcement to Ph.D students and postdocs.
