Dear colleagues,

This is the second announcement of the school and conference

« Modern and Classical Aspects on Algebraic Surfaces »

that will take place in Cracow (Poland) in April 22 - 28, 2018.

Scientific Committee:

There will be three series of five 1 hour school lectures:

-- Moduli spaces of algebraic surfaces -- Fabrizio Catanese (Universität Bayreuth)
-- Classical topics on algebraic surfaces -- Ciro Ciliberto (University of Rome Tor Vergata)
-- Bridgeland stability conditions and interpolation problems – Jack Huizenga (Penn State University)

Invited conference talks will be given by:

-- Ingrid Bauer (Universität Bayreuth),
-- Liana Heuberger (University of Warwick)
-- Roberto Laface (Technische Universität München)
-- Gebhard Martin (Technische Universität München),
-- Xavier Roulleau (Aix-Marseille Université)
-- Mike Roth (Queen's University Kingston Ontario)
-- Alessandra Sarti (Université de Poitiers)
-- Matthias Schuett (Leibniz Universität Hannover)
-- Łukasz Sienkiewicz (University of Warsaw)

There will be also a poster session providing a venue to present of recent results of all participants willing to share their work.

Thanks to generous support of the Banach Center (Warsaw), Foundation Compositio Mathematica, National Science Centre Poland and local authorities we will be able to cover local expenses (not travel) of a number young participants (mostly PhD students and young post-docs) in the period 22.04 – 28.04.2017. In order to apply for a financial support, please provide the following details (please use for these purposes “Additional Information” in the registration form):

- Research interests, current working plans,
- Year of Graduation (if not yet applicable, please provide an approximate date)
- One reference contact (in the case of post-docs, the head of research group, in the case of PhD students, the main advisor).

There will be a registration fee of 100 PLN (approx. 25 EUR) for all participants to partially cover the conference dinner and coffee breaks.

The deadline for applications for the support is 10th February 2018. The decisions will be taken soon after. The registration deadline for the conference is 5th April 2018.

We hope to see you in Cracow in April 2018!
