Workshop on "Harmonic maps"

created by giovanni on 15 Jan 2017

15 may 2017 - 18 may 2017

Brest, France

Dear harmonic friend,

This is an announcement for a workshop organised near Brest (France) on May 15-18, 2017.

After a fallow year, we hope to recreate the spirit and atmosphere of the meetings in Lund'14 and Cagliari'15.

As previously, the main scientific theme will be harmonic maps but topics gravitating around the same ideas will also be welcome.

The scientific committee will be composed of Sigmundur Gudmundson, Stefano Montaldo and John C. Wood, and their main task will be to establish the programme.

To submit a talk on harmonic maps or a closely related topic, please send title and abstract to hmw-brest17@univ-brest.fr.

The actual venue will be a sea-side centre in l'Aber Wrac'h, some 30 km north-west of Brest.

Transport from the airport and train station to the centre will be organised and there is a regular coach line (no 20) from Brest train station to the Centre (the stop is called "Aber-Wrac'h").

Should you prefer to sail, mooring can be arranged, just contact us for details.

Talks and meals will take place at the centre (http://www.ucpa-vacances.com/centre/france/aber-wrac-h/).

With only twelve (12) rooms at our disposal at the centre, participants will be accommodated at the centre and nearby hotels.

While rooms at the centre, functional but with little extra comfort, are reasonably priced at 46 Euros per person per night (breakfast included, 36 Euros for a double room), rooms at the two-star hotel Libenter (www.hotel-libenter.com) will cost around 80 Euros pppn and at the four-star hotels Baie des Anges (www.baie-des-anges.com) or Clos de Tromenec (www.leclosdetromenec.com) rooms will go from 100 to 200 Euros pppn.

Since May is already the tourist season, accommodation will be a delicate matter and it is essential that all bookings be made as early as possible (through the organising committee, at hmw-brest17@univ-brest.fr, whether you opt for the centre or a hotel), certainly before February, to secure accommodation.

Meals at the centre will be fairly inexpensive at under 20 euros per person per meals.
