This is an announcement for the conference "Perspectives in Geometry", to be held in Florence, Italy, on 26-28 January 2017.
The conference, originally intended to celebrate the 65th birthday of our friend Paolo de Bartolomeis, will instead be held in his memory, since he sadly passed away on 29 November 2016.
The scientific aim of the conference will be to present a panoramic vision of some of the main topics of today's Geometry (including Differential Geometry, Algebraic Geometry, Geometric Analysis and Several Complex Variables). The current list of confirmed speakers includes:
Dan Burns (University of Michigan)
Fabrizio Catanese (University of Bayreuth)
Jean-Pierre Demailly (University of Grenoble)
Yasha Eliashberg (Stanford University)
Paul Gauduchon (Ecole Polytechnique)
Andrei Iordan (Université Pierre et Marie Curie)
Luca Migliorini (Univ. of Bologna)
Gang Tian (Princeton University and Peking University)
Giuseppe Tomassini (Scuola Normale Superiore)
Each speaker will choose a broad topic and deliver a set of one or two 45 minute lectures, presenting his view on where the field lies today and which are the main open questions.
