SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT

This is a reminder for all of you with some updated information about the workshop.

The XXV edition of the International Fall Workshop on Geometry and Physics (IFWGP) will take place at the main campus of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid, as it did 25 years ago, from August 29th to September 2nd, 2016. This series of international workshops, held at Spanish and Portuguese universities and research centers, covers topics in the fields of Differential Geometry, Applied Mathematics and Physics, with a particular emphasis on geometric aspects of Mechanics and Field Theory (both in their classical and quantum incarnations). A non exhaustive list of the topics traditionally covered in the workshop is:
- Classical and quantum field theory
- Classical and quantum mechanics
- Control theory
- Integrable systems
- Lie algebroids and mechanics
- Lorentz geometry
- Mechanics of continuous media
- Poisson geometry
- Quantum gravity
- Relativity
- Riemannian and pseudo-Riemannian geometry
- String theory
- Supergravity and supersymmetric theories
- Symplectic and contact geometry

One of the main goals of the workshop is to bring together researchers on these and related areas to facilitate the exchange of ideas between geometers and physicists. The participation of your researchers is encouraged, so, please, disseminate this message among interested colleagues.

As in previous editions the workshop will be preceded by two pre-minicourses (on the afternoon of Monday, August 29) intended to provide some basic background for the minicourses themselves. These, and the invited and contributed talks, will start on Tuesday, August 30th. This year the two minicourses will be delivered by Peter Michor (University of Vienna) and Manuel Asorey (University of Zaragoza) and will be devoted to infinite dimensional manifolds and Quantum Field Theory respectively.

The plenary talks will be given by:
- Gianluca Calcagni (IEM-CSIC)
- Marius Crainic (Utrecht University)
- Miguel Domínguez Vázquez (ICMAT-CSIC)
- François Gay-Balmaz (Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris)
- Eva Miranda Galcerán (Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña)
- Paul K. Townsend (DAMTP, Cambridge University)
- Patrizia Vitale (Naples University)
- Ivan Yudin (Coimbra University)

Information about the meeting, registration details, submission of contributed talks and posters can be found at the Workshop webpage

http://www.icmat.es/congresos/2016/XXVIFWGP/index.php

Remember two very important dates!
- May 31 for the submission of contributions
- June 30 for the reduced registration fee.
There is a number of rooms reserved for the attendants to the workshop at the Residencia de Estudiantes which is conveniently located on campus. Early registration is encouraged to benefit from the availability of these rooms. Other hotels are listed in the webpage.

We look forward to meeting all of you in Madrid.

Kind regards,

The Scientific and Organizing Committees of the XXV IFWGP.
