FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

The Workshop on Geometric Methods in Physics is the annual conference in the field of mathematical physics and mathematics organized by the Department of Mathematical Physics of the University of Białystok, Poland.

The topics covered at the Białowieża meetings span wide areas of mathematical physics and mathematics inspired by physical and mathematical problems. This year we intend to organize a special session on the relationship between the theory of integrable systems and geometry, with intensive focus on the geometric, algebraic and analytic features of completely integrable systems. Discussion on open problems is also planned.

The conference offers a good opportunity for exchange of ideas between physicists and mathematicians. We encourage participation of younger scientists.

The programme consists of invited plenary lectures (55 minutes), as well as other invited and contributed talks (40 or 25 minutes). Participants are also offered a possibility to present their contribution in the poster form.

TOPICS

- harmonic analysis
- infinite-dimensional groups
- integrable systems
- Lie groupoids and Lie algebroids
- mathematical aspects of field theory
- noncommutative geometry
- operator algebras
- quantization
- symplectic and Poisson geometry

SCHOOL FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS

There will be a school for young researchers and graduate students in the week following the Workshop. The School on Geometry and Physics will start on July 4 and last till July 9. The total cost of the School is 300 EUR (includes transportation, board, and accomodation).

During the School we plan to organize several 3h courses by leading experts in mathematical physics. At the moment we have confirmed lectures by A. Bolsinov (Loughborough), M. Bożejko (Wrocław), J. Kijowski (Warszawa), E. Previato (Boston), Th. Voronov (Manchester). The rest of the speakers and subjects of lectures will be announced at later time.
