10 aug 2026 - 21 aug 2026
Utrecht
The School will consist of 10 one-day minicourses, aimed at Mathematics students that have at least completed their 2nd year of undergraduate studies. Physics students with a basic background in algebra, analysis and topology are also welcome to apply. The courses will cover topics in Geometry (understood broadly) and are meant not to overlap with standard content covered in most mathematics majors. A detailed programme is still being finalised; to get an idea of the topics we try to cover, here is the list of courses given in 2025:
- Quaternion algebras and their applications
- Matrix Lie groups and Lie algebras
- In how many ways can we prove the Whitney-Graustein theorem?
- Elliptic curves and congruent numbers
- A hands-on introduction to Formalizing Mathematics in Lean
- Mathematical Billiards
- Manifolds and algebraic topology
- History of geometry
- An introduction to category theory
- Analysis in multiple complex variables
