Research in geometry and mechanics, with the incorporation of the theory of control, has undergone significant development in recent decades. In particular, the study of mechanical and dynamical systems has had a profound impact on other areas of research and on the development of technology. Many of its advances have been based on analytical and numerical techniques. Geometric methods have also been applied to a variety of control problems of locomotion systems, robotics, etc.
There are several active groups that develop their research around these issues and their relationship is strong. This situation has led to the implementation of various initiatives to develop work networks. The idea of holding the Iberoamerican Meetings on Geometry, Mechanics and Control biennially is in this line, promoting interplay and collaborative work between researchers from Ibero-America and the rest of the world working in these topics.
