CRM Ennio de Giorgi, Pisa
School and Workshop
"Algebraic Varieties and their Moduli"
Centro De Giorgi, Pisa, Italia
25 May - 5 June 2015
=======================================
The aim of this intensive period is to investigate some geometric aspects of algebraic varieties in any dimension, with particular attention to their moduli spaces.
The first week is devoted mainly to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, as well as to anybody else interested in the subject. It is actually a school aimed at recovering some background, with a couple of talks by young participants. The attention will be indicatively focused on Enriques-Kodaira classification of algebraic surfaces, K3 surfaces, rational curves on projective varieties, irreducible symplectic varieties, stable curves and deformation theory.
The scientific program of the second week will be focused on the following lectures:
- Enrico Arbarello (Rome, Italy): Curves and sheaves on K3 surfaces.
- Gianluca Pacienza (Strasbourg, France): Rational curves and Chow groups
of irreducible symplectic varieties.
- Soenke Rollenske (Bielefeld, Germany): Introduction to stable surfaces.
For a limited number of young participants, the organization can provide some financial support to cover accommodation (in double rooms), living expenses and a contribution to travel expenses. To apply for financial support, please visit the website

For participants not requiring financial support the registration deadline is 15 April 2015.
