Dear Colleagues,

we hope that this message finds you in good health and spirits.

Given the enduring covid-19 emergency, the CIRM and the organizers of the "Tensor Networks: quantum physics, geometry and applications" workshop previously scheduled for July 27th-29th, 2020 have agreed to postpone the event by one year.

The new dates of the school will most likely be in the period

July 26th-28th, 2021.

More detailed infos will follow as soon as the sanitary situation will clarify, hopefully soon.

Best regards and best wishes,

the organizers
Alessandra Bernardi, Iacopo Carusotto, Philipp Hauke

---------------

Dear Colleagues,

We are happy to announce the interdisciplinary workshop

"Tensor Networks: Quantum Physics, Geometry and Applications”

at Levico, near Trento, from July 27 to 29, 2020. https://sites.google.com/unitn.it/tensor-networks-quantum-geo

The goal of the workshop is to develop the connections between the mathematics and physics communities working on tensor network. It is aimed at researchers from both areas active on the topic, from experienced PhD students over postdocs to permanent faculty.

As a key novelty, our idea is to have a hands-on event with a limited number of talks and several sessions of active work.

During work sessions, participants will distribute themselves in small groups and will actively work on a specific cutting-edge research problem. Each problem will be proposed by a world expert who will be in charge of directing the activities of the group. In this way, we hope to foster strong scientific collaborations that last well beyond the workshop.

List of working-group leaders:

Matthias Christandl (Copenhagen)
Gemma de las Cuevas (Innsbruck)
Michal Heller (Berlin)
Lek-Heng Lim (Chicago)
Matteo Rizzi (Cologne)

Preliminary list of invited speakers:

Elisa Ercolessi (Bologna)
Laura Mancinska (Kopenhagen)
Simone Montangero (Padova)
Giorgio Ottaviani (Florence)
Erez Zohar (Racah Institute of Physics)

The workshop will be held at Levico Terme, a renowned and picturesque spa town.

Application Deadline is May 4, 2020.

In order to apply write an email to augusto.micheletti(AT)unitn.it according to the instructions on the website.

A limited amount of funds are available for financial support of accommodation. Participants who need it are urged to apply as soon as possible stating their needs. Priority will be given to researchers whose participation critically depends on financial support and to phd students and postdocs.

We hope that this quite unusual and pioneering initiative will trigger your interest and we are looking forward to seeing you at Levico.

Best Regards,

The organizers

Alessandra Bernardi, Iacopo Carusotto, Philipp Hauke
