Abstract.
During the 1970s, a conjecture was made by D. Alekseevskii on the topological nature of homogeneous Einstein spaces. It proposes that any (non-compact) homogeneous Einstein space with negative scalar curvature is diffeomorphic to Euclidean space.
Over the past 40 years, there has been evidence both for and against the conjecture, but with very recent results lending more support to the conjecture being correct.
In this talk, we will review recent results and give the current state of knowledge on this conjecture.
