Abstract.
Symplectic and closed G2 orbifolds are singular spaces endowed with a stable closed form. Their desingularization has produced celebrated examples, such as simply connected compact symplectic manifolds without Kähler metrics, and closed G2 manifolds with b1=1 not admitting metrics with holonomy contained in G2. It is remarkable that there are few general theorems for orbifold desingularization. In this talk, we present two resolution methods: 4-dimensional symplectic orbifolds and closed G2 orbifolds M/Z2, with M a closed G2 manifold.
