Abstract.
A celebrated result by Ambrose and Singer characterizes the homogeneity of a pseudo-Riemannian manifold by a set of partial differential equations satisfied by a tensor field, together with some additional conditions of topological nature. We will review the geometric information provided by this homogeneous tensor in different situations, being the so-called linear case the most relevant instance. From that point, we will move to recent result on non-necessarily metric manifolds where we will explore the characterization of homogeneity in other contexts as, for exmaple, the symplectic of Fedosov case.
